I love everything about rug
hooking! From the creation of a new pattern to the dyeing of the wool, making
just the right colors to execute that pattern, the placing of those
colors, and the actual work of forming the loops of wool fabric that make the
pattern into a work of art, even the
finishing of the rug or wall hanging or pillow- it's all exciting for me, every
time! When I can help a student to achieve that same excitement, as well as a
beautiful completed project, I feel as though I've really accomplished something
special. It's very fulfilling.
Graceful, curving
lines in a pattern feel right to me, but the color is the most important aspect
of my art. Being able to dye the perfect shade or intensity of a particular
color and then hook it in makes a piece come alive- it becomes my baby. It just
doesn't get any better than that!
